The Hunt for the Perfect Benny

Obsessed with finding the perfect Hollandaise to go with the perfect Eggs Benedict, I will travel near and far (in Minnesota mostly) hunting and writing about the best and worst Benny's I encounter.
Mon Jun 28
Hell’s Kitchen, Downtown Minneapolis.
I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict but just had to try the mushroom hollandaise. It was magnificent so I was excited to see how the Classic Benny sauce would measure up. When I got my order it looked great and just as I thought, the Hollandaise sauce was incredible. Unfortunately, it was ruined by the ham, english muffin and poached egg. The muffin was super thin, soggy and fell apart on the plate. This was made worse by the thickness of the ham. I had to take one of the two thick cut slices off because it was so salty. The egg was under poached & runny. Also, the service was terrible. We couldn’t get our coffee or waters refilled - even while the server refilled cups at the tables next to us. We didn’t get any of the extras we asked for (a side of mayo, an extra plate, etc.). I was extremely disappointed as the place and Benny came highly recommended.
